Early 2019: nVidia, Google, BeagleBoard, and Sparkfun all announced new edge/fog computing devices to put AI (deep learning) hardware on small SingleBoardComputer platforms.  Intel has had their Neural Compute Stick available for a year or so.  The OpenMV folks have also had a machine vision board available for making a 'smart camera' for a while.   Since I've been toying with getting (back) into the AI worlds, I thought these might be a good way to work with them and my more recent projects on the Maker/embedded computing world.

So I ordered an OpenMV board from Sparkfun and preordered an nVidia Jetson Nano, a Sparkfun Edge, and signed up for info on the BeagleBoard AI.  I am holding off on the Google Coral Edge. I figured getting going with these as starters would be enough project for first round.  After I gain some experience with these, I can try the Coral.

The Intel neural compute stick sounds interesting, but its a couple years old now, and my experience with Intel support for this sort of hardware has not been, er um, confidence inspiring? (edison, joule, galileo, realsense). So I'm opting out of it for now.

So currently on their way to me are the:

I 'll be revising and updating this as products show up and time allows.
