This project was created on 04/19/2017 and last updated 6 years ago.

Description

You have at least one light switch in every room of your house however we have only been using these fixtures to turn on/off the lights. Even "smart" light switches haven't expanded the role your light switch can have in the overall function of your home. This project will expand the functionality of you light switch and make it truly "smart".

First, lights switches have already been ideally placed in your home since they provide a key function (turn on/off the light(s)) and thus are typicaly at the entrance to every room and all high traffic areas. They also provide a power source for any additional electronics that need to be added to the system so you don't have to worry about a perfectly placed outlet.

The heart of this new system will be a Particle Photon development board which provides instant cloud interface using Particle.io or IFTTT.
