In a nutshell, this is a handheld laser projector. The laser bounces off a few mirrors before passing through film of the message to be projected by a lens. Both can be repositioned to tweak size and focus.

-1 watt laser diode

-laser driver with protection (over-heat)

-rechargeable by micro usb (capacity / power)

-case cnc aluminium anodized and sanded with heatsink incorporated

-battery circuit protection

-focus lens laser

-ir filter

-distance 5m to 100m

Thank you all for your interest in this project and your great ideas.

I'm working a lot on this project and I'd like to focus on the most important features as possible.

If you have 55sec to fill this form it would be great :

Thanks a lot

Would an LCD with the backing removed work well in place of the static slide?

Regular 2nd surface mirrors can be modified into first surface mirrors by dissolving the opaque backing paint with paint thinners. The back side would then become the front surface. Here's an example of a diy that shows you how to do that:

Another source for small first surface mirrors would be the platters from a laptop hard drive.  They are not true optical quality but I've used them to bounce a beam around with little diffraction.  They are not metal but some glasslike substance.  Very hard to "cut" but controlled breaks can give nice sized pieces.

Hya. You could repurpose the mirrors used in any flatbed scanner. These are 'direct' mirrors, i.e. the reflecting side is on top, not behind glass. There mostly 2 long strips of these in each scanner. Score and snap...

what is the reason to extend the laser path longer? thanks.

Are those mirrors regular bits of mirrors or have you sourced them from somewhere specific?

Ah, now this is a cool idea! I wonder what adjustments would need to be made for different colors of laser.

Speaking of which, you should look at a dichroic crystal to combine different colors of laser, shone through different images (same image, representing a different color channel) for a full color projector.

Also, may I inquire where you got your lenses from? They look like the perfect size to be added to my lasertag project, I just haven't been able to find a good vendor yet.
