The reason this page has been so quiet... In december my home and workshop were 'severely damaged' by trees falling in a windstorm. My workshop being located in the basement was initially undamaged. With the rain and then freezing temperatures, the damage came in the following days and weeks. The basement flooded and then froze...

So, the progress I had made was derailed. (I had an 96 inch - x axis fully assembled and operational). It had issues that needed to be addressed for high precision (sub 100 micron).

I have been able to salvage some of the components I had stockpiled for the build, and 'fingers crossed' might be able to clean-up and polish out the corrosion on the 8 foot rail. If not, I have a few ideas around lack of precision on the rails using sensors and micro position adjustments on the carriage to regain accuracy.

We have insurance, and have moved to a temporary location while our home is rebuilt. This has created the opportunity to start over. And this time, I will be video-ing the whole build.

Ultimately the goal is to build a 'factory' that can print, knit, cut, glue and assemble a 'product'. The product in mind at the moment is a shoe, as that represents a sufficiently difficult but attainable goal.
