Abstract
Low Cost NFT Hydroponic Garden is a low cost nurtrient film technicque based hyrdoponics grow system. (More on NFT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrient_film_technique) The project is designed mostly out of parts available from a standard hardware store using standard building supplies, building lumber, fence post, and PVC pipes. Only a few specialty components have been sourced online. The idea behind this sort of design is low cost and high accessibility to anyone who wants to build one of their own. This design was originally devised as a test bed for the HydroPWNics project but ended up being worthy of its own project page.
Specifications:
- 16 Grow Sites - 3" netted pots
- 4 rows - PVC Fencepost construction
- 17 Gallon Reservoir - plastic box
- Constantly circulating
- Lowe water usage
- High efficiency
Hi Adam.
5/8" (16 mm) is available (and the smallest size for PVC tubes I could find), but it is only approx 3 mm smaller in diameter then 3/4", so I think using a bigger pump is the best option. I came across a project (https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Controlled-Smart-Hydroponic-Modular-System/) which uses a 1000L/H pump for 40 mm (1 9/16") PVC tubes. BTW what do you think of that project? I did ask them if it was a NFT system, but no answer yet. If one (I?) could combine your and their project, that would seem ideal!
