Tanibox Indoor Farming System

Raspberry Pi powered indoor farming system to grow lettuce and herb.

Similar projects worth following
We are growing lettuce and herbs inside our house. The farming system for lettuce is using hydroponic with raft, and for herbs we are using soil. Indoor system will give some advantages to us, because we can control the lighting, the temperature and humidity, and also avoid pests.

The Raspberry Pi will be connected to temperature sensor and controlled the lighting system and fan. It will also send the data log to the server, so we can analyze it and in the future we can predict the harvest time.

This project is just a prototype to be deployed in our soon-to-be-happen farm.

  • 1 × Raspberry Pi 1 Model B The heart of the system
  • 1 × DHT11 For measuring temperature and humidity
  • 1 × Songle 5V Relay Module Switch the lamp and fan on and off
  • 3 × LED Growing Light Supply the light needs of the plant
  • 1 × Aerator Supply the oxygen for hydroponic raft system

This lovely Sunday, I'm testing the Raspberry Pi local timer for switching on and off the lamp. It has not connected to the internet yet. My next step will be adding the temperature sensor and connect it to the fan.

I'm using Clojure for controlling the Pi's GPIO.

This photo is taken at the day of 8th. The sprouts look healthy. At this stage, we are only testing the lighting, aerator, and fan. The server side application is still under progress.
