Can we have a list of homebrew CPUs?
Ed S wrote 06/16/2017 at 15:08 • 1 pointI'd be happy to curate or help with a list of Homebrew CPUs - any CPU or computer made without a standard microprocessor, whether it be TTL, or relays, or transistors, or rods and cogs. Even FPGA or CPLD based processors, so long as they are novel.

Jasmine maintains the folowing list on hackaday.io : https://hackaday.io/list/2402-homebrew-computers
But if you want to create another list with only computer made from "custom CPU architecture", you shoud ask to a staff member.
And don't forget my A2Z in the new list ;-) https://hackaday.io/project/18206-a2z-computer

If you've got a well documented project, you can PM the list owner with a link to your project if you'd like it added :) I think @Shulie Tornel or @Adam Fabio can make new lists.

Thanks Jasmine - it's a new list which I think we need, as the existing lists don't already cover this. I'm sure the list would be of interest to others too.

This is a good list: http://members.iinet.net.au/~daveb/simplex/ringhome.html

Thanks - that is a good list, and just the sort of thing I was thinking of. (Except, I'm thinking of a list here on hackaday.io, of projects here.)
I will explore the DaveB list now!

How could you miss #Hackaday TTLers ?

Not missed! Much appreciated! And it may have some overlaps. But no room there for a relay machine or a CPU on FPGA, I think.

TTLers is a subset yes, you can simply come and participate in the group :-)

Hey BigEd - there are two lists that come to my mind, that could be of interest, although I admit their range is a bit broader than asked.

not sure why my bicycle computer is in there :D

My homebrew computer (which I labeled "HOMEBREW COMPUTER" among other things) isn't on that list. I think it belongs on

, but I am not sure how to request my project to be included?

You made a computer out of bicycles? That's impressive!

Hee hee - I'm already following both of those - but in fact they are almost the opposite of what I want, because they are using ordinary commercial CPUs. Elsewhere, people are making their own CPUs, whether reduced instruction set, or one-instruction, or any set of useful instructions then can think of. For example:

(I can't see a way to create a list, so I suppose they are officially sanctioned things.)
